Foster



The Lee County Humane Society manages a growing foster care program that offers an exceptional experience for animal lovers who aren't looking to adopt, but want to make a difference in the lives the animals at the shelter. Animals in need of support beyond the shelter environment benefit from being fostered.

Are you ready to become a foster parent?

Foster parents must be...

  • At least 19 years of age
  • Able to house an animal for a minimum of 2 weeks
  • Able to provide a good and loving home
  • What animals need fostering?

  • Mothers with nursing young
  • Self-feeding young
  • Sick or injured animals
  • Animals pending transfer to a rescue
  • Animals in need of behavior modification or socialization
  • Adult cats and dogs
  • What does the LCHS provide?

  • Crates when available (deposits are required)
  • Limited veterinary care
  • Collars when available
  • What does the foster parent provide?

  • Food, shelter, water, etc.
  • Transportation to and from the LCHS
