During the month of February, students in Mrs. Paris’ 5th grade class (pictured above) at Dean Road Elementary School hosted a donation drive for the animals at the Lee County Humane Society. The students are challenging each classroom at Dean Road Elementary to collect 250 items for LCHS. Items students collected include dog and cat food, shredded paper, cat litter, dog treats, and much more. Students stopped by the classrooms each morning to check for collected items and record the donations on a chart displayed in the hallway at their school.
In addition to the donation drive, students created a writing project for their peers to share their love for their own pet. These writing projects are displayed in the hallway at Dean Road Elementary, as well.
LCHS would like to thank the students in Mrs. Paris’ class for considering the animals at the shelter and practicing compassion for the animals in their community.
