Before school returned to session, Amelia Taylor, Sarah Taylor, and Ann Archer Arnall spent one summer day setting up a lemonade stand to benefit the animals of the Lee County Humane Society.
"They wanted to give the money raised to the shelter because they are all animal lovers," Cathy Taylor, Amelia and Taylor's mom, said.
The girls made signs, fixed the lemonade and set up their stand with a bright beach umbrella to attract customers.
A cup of lemonade cost 25 cents, but when most customers saw that they were donating the money to the LCHS they wanted the girls to keep the change.
"The girls' lemonade stand was also a good learning experience in counting money and greeting customers," Cathy said.
By the end of the day, the girls raised $25.00 to donate to the shelter. The girls wanted to purchase something the animals could use rather than just dropping the money off at the shelter.
The girls all took part in taking to money to the bank, calling the shelter to find out what items were needed, and shopping for the goods at the store.
"The girls prided themselves in bringing in a large bag of dog food and two bags of cat litter," Cathy added.
On behalf of the animals at the shelter, Lee County Humane Society thanks Amelia, Sarah and Ann Archer for their hard work, generosity, and thoughtfulness.
