Volunteer Opportunities at the Lee County Humane Society
If you're looking for ways to contribute your free time this summer and are interested in getting involved at the Lee County Humane Society, here are several ways to lend a hand! If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, go ahead and complete the volunteer application on our website!
Dog Walking
Dog walking is an excellent way to give pups leash practice and outside time. To become a dog walker, you must meet two requirements: being 18 years or older and completing the dog walking orientation led by the kennel manager. Following that, you will need to shadow experienced dog walkers for a minimum of 3 hours. Once certified, you can take our furry friends for walks around Auburn. Certified dog walkers are also eligible to take part in exciting events like Doggy Dates, group dog walks, and various other special activities.
Cat Companions
Cat companions is a volunteer opportunity to provide our cats and kittens with enrichment and affection. Volunteers spend time engaging and playing with our cats, maintaining litter boxes, kennels, and the cat room, and refilling water dishes. This volunteer task does not require any training and is a great opportunity to get involved at LCHS!
Office Working
These tasks include photocopying documents, handling phone calls, organizing materials, and performing various other miscellaneous duties.
Laundry, Dishes, and Dog Baths
Assist with essential tasks such as handling clean laundry. You'll be responsible for drying, folding, and organizing the freshly cleaned items. Additionally, you can lend a hand in the kitchen by washing, drying, and putting away dishes. Another important task is taking care of the litter pans, ensuring they are washed, dried, and stored appropriately. By contributing your time and effort to these tasks, you'll play a vital role in maintaining a clean and organized environment for the animals in our care.
Special Events
We have several events taking place this summer that require volunteers! Some include group outings for dog walking, volunteering for our summer youth program, participating in PetSmart adoption events, going on doggy dates, and joining in on various entertaining fundraisers and events. By getting involved, you can make a positive impact while enjoying the fun and rewarding experiences that these events have to offer!
